María del Mar Gómez González (Madrid, 1977) writes for the theater under the artistic name of Mar Gómez Glez. Her works include ‘Fuga Mundi’ (Beckett 2007 Prize) and ‘Cifras’ (Calderón de la Barca 2011 Prize), which was premiered at Rutgers University (2015), produced in Bombay en 2016 and will be staged again shortly in Munich, Frankfurt and Salzburg.
Some of her works have been premiered in New York (Off-Broadway, Stage Fest Theater, La Mamma Experimental Theater Club).
PROJECT
‘Síndrome de Sócrates’, the project for a play receiving the grant, will deal with the role that society grants to money by inventing a psychiatric disorder whose main symptom is inability to accept money.
Using the mechanism of a false documentary and the positioning of a camera on stage it will confront the public with their own notions on this mattter.
