Pablo José Fernández Marcos (Madrid, 1979) is senior researcher at Instituto Madrileño de Estudios Avanzados – IMDEA Alimentación.
He is a molecular biologist expert in the metabolism, cancer and aging, and has developed a highly productive research career at Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) and at the prestigious EPFL in Switzerland. Currently, he is researching into the potential of bioactive products against obesity and diabetes.
PROJECT
This project will scan more than a thousand compounds extracted from natural sources and extracts of medicinal herbs, and will test their activity in high-performance biological testing platforms.
Fernández Marcos expects his findings to be highly significant, given the scarcity of ambitious studies on bioactive products derived from food, and their potential in the fight against obesity.
